Our project with the City of Tustin consisted of upgrades to their lighting at Citrus Park, which have been going strong for years, as well as the lights around Tustin City Hall.
During the summer of 2015, the Public Works Department of Tustin, California, reached out to us for assistance in upgrading the lighting at one of their parks. Their goal was to replace existing metal halide lights with energy-efficient LED alternatives.
The following day, we met with their team at Citrus Park to discuss their concerns. While they had aesthetically pleasing fixtures in the parking lot, they were dissatisfied with the light output and the frequent maintenance required. Rather than replacing the entire fixture—an expensive and relatively new investment—we proposed a retrofit solution. Our recommendation was to utilize a 36W LED mogul mount omni-directional commercial light bulb.
Initially, the team was skeptical about whether a 36W LED could adequately replace a 150W metal halide bulb. To address their concerns, we provided several samples for testing. After installation, the supervising official reached out to us early the next morning, expressing enthusiasm for the results. He was particularly impressed with the brightness and overall performance of the new LED lighting, describing it as “excellent.”
We also replaced lighting throughout the park and the walkways were replaced utilizing 18w E26 Omni-directional bulbs, which are still in use today.
This successful retrofit not only enhanced the park’s lighting quality but also reduced maintenance needs and improved energy efficiency and safety for the City of Tustin.
Soon after, the city wanted to retain that “warmer” look at the Tustin Civic Center and City Hall, we recommended low temperature 54W mogul mount omni directional commercial bulbs. They worked out well and are still in use today.
In 2024 and 2025, The city has also replaced 480V 1000W Metal Halide fixtures with 200W voltage compatible LED fixtures for the Tustin Columbus park tennis courts and Tustin Sports Park. So far, the feedback has been very positive.
Our implementation of the LED lighting in Citrus Park in 2015 is still going strong.
Tustin desired a very warm light output for the LED street lights around the City Hall building.
In 2025, we upgraded the Tustin Sports Park’s tennis courts to LED. We also worked with the city of Tustin to make similar upgrades to the Columbus Tustin Park and the Tustin Civic Center (images below).
We also performed upgrades to the LED lights at Columbus Tustin Park tennis courts.
